Description:
The trail traverses lakeshore floodplain praires, marshes, pine flatwoods,
and live oak hammocks. Buster Island is a dry, sandy area of elevated
ground with a circular border of hardwood hammock. During past eons, Gobbler
Ridge was built up by the Lake Kissimmee storm waves and is now covered
by large live oaks. Most species of Florida wildlife make their homes
in this park, including deer, eagles, Sandhill crane, elusive turkeys,
and the bobcat.
The park opens at 8 a.m. and closes at sunset year round.
